GHG Calculations and Reporting
Under EPA's Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP), owners or operators of petroleum and natural gas facilities (40 CFR 98, subpart W) that emit 25,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) or more must report GHG emissions to EPA and are applicable to the Waste (Methane) Emissions Charge. Onshore GHG reporting is based on the total GHG emissions in a geographical region. Reporting is required annually by March 31st.
Emissions reported for GHG reporting may differ from those reported on your state-level air permit. GHG Reporting is for Methane (CH4), Carbon Dioxide (CO2), and Nitrous Oxide (N2O).
Every oil and gas company should have documentation of GHG emissions per geographical region.
